My name is Laura Henry Owanesian and I have been in education for 9 years. I started off right out of college as an English teacher in Chile, South America, completed school counseling internships at public and charter schools, worked in the public school district as a school counselor in Charlotte for three years, and a college counselor at a Catholic high school in Lake Norman for three years. I opened Crescere College Consulting in 2014.
I got into school counseling because I love helping young people to become the best that they can be. My favorite part of being a school counselor has always been helping students and parents with the college admissions process, matching them to the right college, and seeing their eyes light up when they are accepted. I thrive on that, and it is what drives me every day.
With me, you will get more than just someone who knows about college and has helped a few kids here and there. You will get someone who lives the college admissions life everyday, who is extremely current and up-to-date with information, but most importantly of all, someone that your child can relate to.
I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have my North Carolina K-12 School Counseling License, am a Myers Briggs Type Indicator Certified Practitioner, and an ASCA Certified College Admissions Specialist. I'm an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association, and a member of the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC), and the Southern Association for College Admissions Counseling (SACAC). In my free time, I enjoy photography, cooking, and yoga.
