My name is Laura Henry Owanesian (she/her), and I have been in education since 2008.  I started off right out of college as an English teacher in Chile, South America, completed school counseling internships at public and charter schools, worked in the public school district as a school counselor in Charlotte for three years, and as a college counselor at a private high school in the Lake Norman area for three years. I opened Crescere College Consulting in 2014.

I got into school counseling because I love helping young people become the best they can be. My favorite part of being a school counselor has always been helping students and parents with the college admissions process, matching them to the right college, and seeing their eyes light up when they are accepted. I thrive on that, and it is what drives me every day.

With me, you will get more than just someone who knows about college and has helped a few kids here and there. You will get someone who lives the college admissions life every day, who is extremely current and up-to-date with information, but most importantly of all, someone that your child can relate to.

I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I am a Myers Briggs Type Indicator Certified Practitioner, a professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), and a Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA) member. I’m the co-leader for a local, Charlotte-area group of HECA educational consultants. I attend professional development conferences and tour 10-15 colleges annually. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my husband and daughter, reading, cooking, being outside, and doing yoga.
